Painful, Hardened Vein/tear Above The Hip. Planning On An Ultrasound Meanwhile Looking For Some Diagnosis

I have what feels like an swollen lymph node just below my left ear. I also have what I thought was a tear in my lower left core muscles between my rib cage and above my hip. I thought it was a tear because I was playing basketball and the next day I felt sharp pain in my left side that was thin and linear. But now it feels like a vein that has hardened. I have a scheduled ultrasound next week at a sports medicine clinic but I didn't tell my primary about the swollen lymph node as well. Would you recommend an ultrasound on the vein/tear given my symptoms or something else?

Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
Hello.
Thanks for writing to us.
The tear like sensation in the core muscles can happen due to a blunt injury in the area. Going for an ultrasound is recommended. An MRI scan will also be helpful.
I hope this information has been both informative and helpful for you.
