Painful Lump On Jaw After Molar Teeth Extraction. Taking Painkillers. Normal?
I just had my lower molar extracted on thursday and I have a golf ball size lump in my jaw line and is in horrible pain.. we back to dentist today and he said that I do not have a dry socket but I have had one before and it seems as I do have a dry socket. I am having to take painkillers every 2 hrs. is this normal? he said it was a difficult extraction and that the gum tissue is very swollen..I cant seem to get the pain under control. what can I do?
The swelling can be as a result of trauma caused at the time of extraction. There could be a chence of any root piece left in the socket to rule out this you need to visit the Dentist and get an x-ray done. Take complete course of antibiotics and analgesic prescribed to you by the Dentist. Take lukewarm saline rinses and antiseptic mouthwash gargles. Apply ice packs externally over the affected area.
Take care!
