Painful Lump, Red Welt After Scratching. What Is This?
I had an itch on my inner today and when I went to scratch it, the pain was horrible and not expected. I felt a lump through my yoga pants where the pain was and when I took off my pants I noticed what looked like a zit or bug bite , but the pain did not feel like either. There was a small whitehead on it so I went to pop it and nothing came out. Now there is a red circular welt around the bump. I have no idea what this is.
Hi,
This could be a boil( furuncle). To help it heal, do hot water fomentation twice in a day and apply an antibiotic cream like mupirocin or fusidic acid. To help relive pain and inflammation surrounding the lesion, you may take an antiinflammatory pain killer like ibuprofen. Do not wear tight clothes as too much friction over the lesion can impair early healing. If the lesion does not seem to respond much, kindly consult a doctor nearby to initiate a course of oral antibiotic.
Hope that answers your query.
