Partner Diagnosed With Herpes. Could It Have Transmitted To Me?

Hi there:
I have not had any symptoms of herpes. I am a 49 year old healthy female. My ex husband was sexually active with many woman when I was married. My partner was just recently diagnosed with Herpes. He had herpes 20 years ago that he was transmitted by his spouse who had a cole sore. He has be sick recently and his immune system is extremely low. We had intercourse 2 weeks ago and 2 days later he had to go to
the doctor and was diagnosed with herpes. Is it possible that it was transmitted by me, when I have never had any symptoms. Is there a medical test that I can take to see if I gave it to him without me having any symptoms.

Hello,
Thanks for writing in.

As you have told, your partner has been diagnosed as suffering from Herpes infection. It is natural that the infection can be transmitted sexually to you.
Herpes infection is caused by Herpes viruses types I and II.
To diagnose herpes infection following tests can be done:

1. Herpes antiboy analysis IgG and IgM.
2. Herpes viral culture
3. Polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test
4. Herpes virus antigen detection test

Hope this helps.
