Perforated Ear Drum Not Healing. Don't Want Surgery. Suggestions?
hello doctor i have perforated ear drum for more than 2 months and my doctor says that if the hole had to heal on its own, it usually heals in 2 months. He told in my case now that its over 2 months, holein my ear will not heal on its own. I dont want any surgery and am afraid if the hole will get sealed ever on its own
A perforated ear drum heals in majority of conditions in majority of cases.
However, when the healing does not take place spotaneously surgical procedure has to be done.
Surgery involves excision of the perforation site and replacement with a graft.
The grafts can be cartilage, dura, or skin flap.
Surgical excision is mandatory to seal and repair the perforation.
Conservative management is not feasible after a period of 2 months.
Thanks and take care
