Popping Sound With Pain From The Leg To The Knee. What Could Be Wrong?

I am a 47 year old woman and I did the splits. As I was doing them I hear a pop. Now I have pain in my bottom when I sit or stand in addition I have pain going down the back of my leg to the knee. It is extremely uncomfortable to have sexual intercourse. Could you tell me what possibly could be wrong? This happened about three months ago and is still bothering me.
