Ophthalmologist 's  Response
Hi Friend I am Dr Bilal and I am an Ophthalmologist
Welcome to Health Care Magic and thanks for writing to us .
I would like to answer your question and your satisfaction is my goal .

As per history given by you , the butterfly shaped rash could be systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) . Basically its an auto immune disease of connective tissue . Or it could be a simple melasma as mentioned by you , but i would suggest you to visit your dermatologist and physician for definitive diagnosis and treatment as its been a year now and the rash is getting darker .

I hope that you will find my answer helpful .

I wish you a very speedy recovery .
Wish you good luck .
Best regards .
