Pregnancy Test Positive, Ultra Scan Showed Sac But No Heart Beat. What Does That Mean?
Hey there the last 3 weeks have been pretty full on for I did 13 home pregancy test all were positive then went to doctors did a blood test I came up with 8 week pregant then today went for my ultra scan it showing I'm pregant I have a 6cm sac and embro is there but no heart beat , I haven't had any signs of miscarriage or any could it just mean that it's still early
On TVS scan fetal heart beat is found around 6-7 weeks and on abdominal USG scan around 7-8 weeks. However, it can be detected around 8-9 weeks in late conception for few percentage only. You would repeat or undergo one TVS scan after one week for confirmation of the same.
Otherwise, it will turn into missed miscarriage and you need to terminate the pregnancy after consultation with your gynecologist. D & C with suction is the procedure of choice.
Hello Thanks for your query. At 8 weeks pregnancy, there should definitely be a heart beat. Failure to visualize the heartbeat in the embryo when it is more than 6 mm, is called a missed miscarriage, and requires termination. You could opt for an option for repeat ultrasound after a week, and if this is the same scenario, then the only option would be termination of pregnancy. Meanwhile, all the best.
