Pregnant. Can Take Saril, Imosec M, Razo For Upset Stomach?
Dear Dr Kondekar, We learnt today that my wife is undergoing her first month of pregnancy. Last week she had stomach upset, and our doctor had prescribed following medicines, 1. EME-OD 1OD 2. Saril 1BD 3. Imosec-M 4. Razo-D 10D Could you pl inform if its safe to take above antibiotics during first 3 months of pregnancy? Do we need to take any special care? Thanks Virat Singhal
hello there saril ( ofloxacin ) is category c drug, i wont recommend it in first trimester, and no way just for stomach upset. why imosec ( loperamide for diarrhoea category b can be used in pregnacy but it has simethicone in it category c again.) razo D ( is rabeprazole) you can use it. it catgory b, fine it is.
so if its a stomach upset you mean just acidity or or acidity plus diarrhoea etc, just take rabeprazole/ famotidine and use some fiber like ispaghol husk to help loose motions you can use metronidazole. stop other crap and kick your doctor in the nuts for me as a compliment for trying to ruin such a crucial phase that is embryogenesis of your baby.
regards
