Pregnant. HIV And VDRL Test Done. What Does This Mean?
i am 4 months pregnant .., i have taken HIV test and VDRL test. As per their reports they are as follows: ======================================================================================= Investigation Observed Value Biological Reference Interval ---------------- -------------------- ------------------------------------- HIV( ELISA ) Non Reactive Cut off OD :0.214 (Serum/ELISA) Test OD(HIV) 0.019 ======================================================================================= What does this mean? Reply me ASAP.......
The HIV and VDRL tests are done to detect HIV infection and syphilis infection respectively.
It is important to detect these infections during pregnancy so that they are not transmitted to the baby.
You have posting only the HIV status.
The Elisa test for HIV is non-reactive or negative, thus there is no need to go for confirmatory tests.
If the Elisa tests comes out to be positive HIV infection is confirmed by Western blot.
