When a stroke occurs at a young age it is usually related to clotting issues resulting in increased clot formation. The clot would subsequently obstruct a vessel in the brain. Pregnancy and the post partum period is associated with an increased risk of stroke especially if there is a previous history. Remember there is an increased risk, it does not mean that it would necessarily occur. Your daughter may want to discuss this risk with her doctors and determine what can be done to minimise it.
