Pregnant, Suffered Cardiac Arrest Due To Blood Clot In Lungs, Now In Coma. C-section Delivery Necessary?
Hi Im XXXXXX I have a freind who has gotten a cardiac arrest , from a blood clot in both lungs, she is now in coma , and pregnant i 7th month. We are wondering why she has not gotten an ceasarian, she is to be woken up tomorrow. But the doctors hesitate regarding the ceasarian, do you have any clue why they would do this. its a very unlucky situation indeed.
Hi Henrik,
Yes, it is very unlucky situation. Once a person gets cardiac arrest the whole circulation stops. Even circulation to the foetus stops at that time. We don't know the condition of the baby in womb. The doctor would have assessed the condition. If it is not viable, there is no urgency for c section. By putting the patient on anaesthesia and surgery would loose a minor chance of survival of mother.
Hope she becomes alright soon.
