Prescribed Methylprednisone For Knee Discomfort. History Of Knee Replacement. Taking Tramadol. Safe?

Today was given a prescription for methylprednisolone 4 mg dose pak. Looks too risky! I had knee replacement last October...still experiencing discomfort...not pain but aches and always feeling this discomfort. I take Tramadol 2-4 tablets daily 50 HCL which helps. Doc said I have soft tissue pain not bone and have developed some arthrofibrosis in the knee. He thinks I would benefit from this dose pak.. More I read less I feel I should take it.

Hi thanks for your question.
You had knee replacement surgery and your taking 50mg of tramadol daily.Since your have developed arthrofibrosis in knee, you will be benefited from methylprednisolone,it will help in resolution of fibrosis to some extent but definitely will prevent further fibrosis. Steroids are not harmful if taken for very short duration of time. However they have many side effects if used for prolonged time.
Hope this answers your question.
