Prescribed Phenergan For Stomach Flu. Now Vomiting. Should I Take Glimepiride Along With Medication?
84 year old mom with stomach flu dr ordered phenergan but she still has been vomiting some when i give her liquids and she has not taken her glimepiride her glucose level is 147 what do you advise because I dont want those levels to drop with no food in her body if I give her the med or if she will even keep it down. thank you
Hello otish,
Thanks for posting your query.
You should monitor blood sugar twice a day.
Taking phenergan is okay, if it is not helping then she should take antacids like Rabeprazole+domperidone once a day and can add on tablet domperidone 10mg additionally up to three times a day.
The diabetes medicines doses should be reduced to half till the patient accepts orally well.
Till then give her liquid feeds to ensure nutrition and hydration.
I hope this answers your query.
In case you have any follow up queries or doubts, you can forward them for me, and I shall be glad to help you.
