Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
last Friday I went to the hospital because I have pain in my stomach sweaty hands and feet I wanted to see what the problem was they ended up diagnosing me with the stomach flu and now it has been 11 days and I may have messed up the diet yesterday by adding butter to my potato is there anyway I relapsed ?
Hi. Thanks for your query. Noted the history and understood the concerns. Pain in abdomen, sweaty hands and feet, being diagnosed as stomach flu for the last 11 days and changed diet indicate that you might have got wither a stomach flu or a bacterial infection or may be other causes such as intolerance to foods and beverages. I would advise you the following in such a situation: The treatment of both the things is almost same except for antibiotics to be added when a bacterial infection is found on stool and blood tests. Rest of the treatment is as follows: Probiotics, multivitamins. Antispasmodics if pain. Activated charcoal orally. PPI like Omeprazole and antacids if required. Plenty of oral fluids. Orally boiled and cooled water and fresh home made food.
