Pressure In Chest. Nuclear Stress Test Indicated 1% Chance Of Heart Attack, Scheduled For Angiogram
HI I am scheduled for an angiogram on Wednesday but am not certain as I had a nuclear stress test which indicated that I had only 1% chance of a heart attack but my doctor still wants me to have an angiogram as both my parents had major heart surgery and I had two episodes where I had a pressure in my chest. m_dudgeon@hotmaui
Hi, Thanks for using Healthcaremagic, Your nuclear stress test chances of significant coronary artery disease is low. You have strong family history of heart ailment(Ischemic heart disease).
If your Cardiologist wants coronary angiogram which is considered gold standard test for coronary artery disease.
I would suggest you to go for it as you have atypical chest discomfort we need to rule out such disease.
Further line of investigations and treatment depends on result of angiography. Take care of other risk factors like avoid smoking, maintain good lipid profile, do regular physical exercise,
Periodic medical check ups. Hope this information helps you. Take care. Good Luck. Dr.Akhilesh Dubey M.D.
