Purple Bruising Below Ankle, Swollen. Got Hit On Shin Between Ankle And Knee Week Ago, Tender To Touch. Are These Related?
I got hit in the shin halfway between ankle and knee with a softball 1 week ago. It swelled up quite a bit, swelling is going down, and it is still tender to the touch. A few days ago I started seeing purple bruising just below the ankle. Ankle might even be a little swollen now. Are the 2 related. Anything to be concerned about?

Hi, Next before you go to the doctor you should try the following rest, ice, compression and elevation are the most common treatments. After 48 hours or once the swelling has subsided, use heat (a warm bath or heating pad) to promote circulation and healing.
Over-the-counter medications such as acetaminophen (e.g., Tylenol) or ibuprofen (e.g., Advil) can help ease discomfort, as can topical creams or ointments that numb the skin.
If you don't find any relief with the above measures, a detailed clinical examination along with appropriate investigations are needed to establish a diagnosis.
