Purple Rash On Skin Just Below Knee Cap With Pain

Hi I wonder if you can help me, I have a purple rash/patch on my skin just below the knee cap which I have had since oct 2013 doctors have done blood test and X-ray but still not sure what s wrong, it gets very painful and tight also It get quite hot around that area any ideas??
