Put Pins In The Back After Laparoscopic Back Surgery. Oozing Green Pus In One Of The Incision Sites. What To Do?
Hi, my name is Rebecca. I'm 30 years old and just had my 5th back surgery last Tues. They had to put pins in my back this last surgery. It was a laproscopic procedure. I tested positive for MRSA prior to surgery. They currently have me on Keflex 4 times daily however green pus is now coming from one of the incision sites and is swollen and very painful.
The green pus coming out could be due to Pseudomonas. It is a frequent cause of hospital acquired infection and since you have recently been to hospital for your surger, it points to the same.
Keflex is a cephalosporin, and does not act on Pseudomonas. I'd suggest you to see your physician/ surgeon and get an higher antibiotic prescribed.
Hope I helped.
