RBC, Hemoglobin Level High In Urine Analysis, No Infection. Kidney Ultrasound Due. What Does It Indicate?
Urine analysis indicated RBC level of 64.3. Hemoglobin result was Large. No infection was indicated. I am male, age 67. Very active (tennis, resistance training, swimming). I also to sets of vertical jumps, but feel that I land softly. Scheduled for ultrasound of the kidneys this week. Statistically, what are the chances urine blood levels are due to cancer? I take 20 grams of whey protein 3-4 times per week.
The urine analysis reveals presence of red blood cells and hemoglobin in urine. Presence of red blood cells occurs due to damage to the glomeruli or disease process involving the glomeruli of the kidney. Presence of hemoglobin in urine is called hemoglobinuria and occurs due to break down of red blood cells in urine. Hemoglobinuria can occur in glomerulonephritis, pyelonephritis, burns, cancer, paroxysmal nocturnal hemoglobinuria, sickle cell anemia, etc. However, since there is presence of red blood cells also, possibility of glomerulonephritis is more likely. Is the urine positive for proteins also? If yes then there is every possibility of glomerulonephritis. Cancer of the renal system can be ruled out by ultrasound of the pelvic region and urine examination for malignant cells. A renal biopsy is also required to look for microscopic changes in the kidneys. Consult a nephrologist for renal biopsy.
