Rash Appearing On Toddler Legs And Spreading, Please Help

I noticed a rash on my 2 yr old daughter around both her ankles. It just looks like small clusters of bumps just skin-like not rough or anything different but both ankles were red. I put calamine on them and put her to bed, then woke up with her about an hour and a half later with new clusters, on her feet, up her legs, on her belly and the original ones pretty much gone. I m keeping calamine on them and gave her a dose of zyrtec since benadryl says she s too young to take that. I haven t changed detergents or done anything differently today that I can think of to bring this on. I checked everywhere for may be ants getting on her before bed, checked the sheets and all just in case and noticed nothing. Any idea what it could be and if it s serious ?

Hello jakesmomh,
welcome to HealthcareMagic
DOes your daughter have fever too? Is the rash itchy? Is it red in colour?
If yes she may be having a viral rash. Take her to a dermatologist as these rashes can only be diagnosed accurately by having a look at the lesions.

Hi, Welcome to Healthcare Magic Forum.
What you are seeing on your Baby's skin are papules with erythema. It can be Eythema Toxicum or contact dermatitis. No to worry, these are not serious conditions. Try changing her nappies and bed sheets regularly after washing them in a antiseptic solution. Continue applying the calamine lotion, observe it for 2 weeks, if you notice changes in its size, shape or color even after 2 weeks, take her to a Dermatologist for further evaluation. Take Care.
