Rashes On Back, Neck, Itchy, Irritation, Patch On Forearm. On Triamcinolobe Acetonide Cream. Further?

I have a rash on the back of my neck. Originally it was two areas that looked like bites and itched. I thought it might be lice, but I was examined by a doctor and none were found. She thought something had irritated the skin. The rash continued, with more bite-like bumps appearing and really itching. Some of them appeared to be in a line, so I thought bed bugs! I had my home inspected, and none were found. The rash itched for a long time. The original two areas have developed a snakeskin texture and a few of the "bites" remain. I also had a patch on my forearm, but that has pretty much healed. I have treated the areas with triamcinolone Acetonide cream .1%, which didn't help as much as it usually does with rashes. I added benadryl cream, which seemed to make some difference. This has been going on for a month.

Hi

Thanks for your query

Since you have the rash only over the exposed parts of body, i suspect that you have developed a photosensitive rash.
See if you had a long bad sun exposure before the development of the skin rash. Also whether you have any photosensitivity on exposure to sun.
Now what you need is a topical steroid cream more potent than triamcinolone.

You will need to apply something like clobetasol cream over the affected area atleast twice a day.
Use a sunscreen with spf more than 26 every time you go out in the sun.
Make sure you apply the sunscreen atleast 30 minutes before the sun exposure.
Take oral antihistamines to relieve the itching.
Wear full sleeved clothes as much as possible.
Do not apply any other creams or oil over the affected areas.

Hope it helps
