Reason For Getting Sharp Pains Around Stomach After Nissen Fundoplication Procedure?

i had a Nissan Fundoplication about 8-9 years ago. i am getting sharp strong pain around the top of my stomack.

not often but when i do its quick and painfull. are there problems with this procedure over time and does the operation last a life time? Thanks

Hi. The operation of Nissan Fundoplication lasts for lifetime if you follow the directions by your Doctor. Strong sharp pains at the top of stomach can be due to swelling of the xiphisternum a small bone at the end of sternum. Pressure on that point if painful confirms it.
