Hi, I had a black spot in my big toenail which I guess is a fungus. I'm sure the cause from this happening is from using a lot of nail polish and remover. I didn't have a chance to go see a doctor about it and instead took matters into my own hands by removing the spot in my nail by clipping half my nail off leaving only the other half on. At this moment I have a nail and the top is skin. I was wondering what could I use to help grow my nail back and how long will it take to grow.
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
It may not be fungal infection, but it could be due to an injury or it could be just staining. In my opinion, just wait for some time and it will be no more there, no need to worry about this. If the nail being already taken off then soon it will grow back and growing process varies from person to person.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Akhtarhusain
