Recurring Diaper Rash For Baby. Suggested Strep Test For Parents. Treatment If Parent Is A Carrier?
My grandson continues to get recurring diaper rash. His pediatrician has DX him with Strep butt??? This usually occures during teething. His Doctor suggests all family members be tested for Strep because we could potentialy be carries of strep. If any family member is a so called carrier of strep what would be the treatment?? And i have heard that dogs can be carriers as well. Is this true???
Hi there, Welcome to HCM. Diaper rash is commonly fungal than bacterial. However, there exists a condition called Strept butt which is caused by Group A streptococci. All family members can become carriers who are in close contact with the patient. Carrier stage is much common in young children than adults. There are antibiotics which can be given to carriers like cephalosporins, clindamycin. I would suggest that let the treating doctor decide which antibiotic he wants to prescribe after the test results. There are cases where they have isolated strep from house pets but it is still not proved. Thanks.
