Recurring Haemorrhoids, Unable To Pass Bowels, White Jelly Like Discharge, Sweet Smell In Stools. Treatment?
Hi I know this sounds nasty but I had hemorrhoids removed 2 years ago and they are back again. I have been having a hard time being able to have a bowel movement and I have had a lot of what appears to be white jelly like mucus . And last night and today I had a bowel movement that smelled really sweet almost fruity. What would cause this to happen?
Hello,
Surgery usually cures the haemorrhoids but the long term success of surgery depends upon how well you have been able to change your daily bowel habits to avoid constipation and straining.
About 5 out of 100 cases get their haemorrhoids back after the surgery because of poor habits.
Take plenty of water, take large amount of fibre and keep constipation away.
You may take some laxatives for the time being and consult your surgeon again.
As far as fruity smell in bowel movement is concerned it could be sign of diabetes.
Diabetic ketoacidosis results in fruity smell in urine and bowel movements.
Thanks
