Recurring Tingling And Numbness In Left Arm, Tightness In Chest With Pain, Normal ECG, Blood Work. Advice?
I m a 40 year old african american female and I ve been having numbness and tingling in my left arm that comes and goes, tightness in chest , and pain on upper left side of chest that comes and goes. I ve had normal ecg and blood work came back normal, going back and forth to the er creating bills because i don t know whats going on

Peripheral neuropathy refers to abnormal nerve pain/sensation or function in any of the peripheral nerves (nerves not in the brain or spinal cord).
There is a group of nerves that supply the arms and hands called the brachial plexus, it exits from the spinal cord through the lower neck.Anything that effects these nerves can cause tingling, numbness and any abnormal sensation in the arms and hands.
Your doctor can assess you for conditions such as : diabetes, trauma to the nerves due to a cervical rib, MS, autoimmune conditions such as SLE or RA, amyloidosis, infections such as shingles or lymes, vitamin deficiency (vitamin B12, vitamin B6, vitamin B1).
In terms of the pain in the upper chest - if cardiac pain has been ruled out by ECG and blood tests then other causes must be looked at such as muscle pain or spasm, esophageal spasm, anxiety.Esophageal spasm may also be associated with difficulty swallowing, feeling as though something is stuck in the throat, regurgitation of food.
To determine the cause you will need a to see your doctor to give your history and for an examination.
