Red Welts In Arms And Legs After Taking Levaquinn After Root Canal. Will Benadryl Help In Removing Welts?
Yes, I have been taking levaquinn after some dental work---root canals. I took 500 mgs of levaqinn for 7 days four weeks ago and no reactions. I started the levaquinn again two days ago after more root canal work was done. I am breaking out with some red welts some the sizes of a dime or quarter. Arms and legs rear end etc. I think I may have hives from the antibiotic. What can I do for this? I have about 22 of these welts so far. They do not itch or hurt. Would stopping the medicine and taking benadryl help to get rid of the welts? I have never had hives before. Thank you! I initially had the infection from teh root canal spread to the bone. This second series of antibiotic was to make sure all infection was cleared up!
Hi, Welcome to Health Care Magic, I am not very convinced that your Skin rash is due to levaquin. As you have taken it before, and that time you didn't get rash. To be on safer side, you can stop levaquin though. You must be more observant also to find the cause for Rash, so that you can avoid the allergen to get any rash in future. Benadryl will help in getting rid of your welts. You can also do cold compress. If it keeps on coming or become sever, you should immediately see the Doctor. Sometimes, it could be dangerous also by affecting your wind pipe, causing difficulty in breathing etc. Take care Dr H Hamdani
