Repeated Anxiety, Taking Lorazapam. Chest Feels Heavy, Disoriented. Will Antidepressant Help ?

Hello, I was searching for some advice/help online because I feel so desperate. I have anxiety. Have had it off and on for a few years now. I have taken lorazapam in the past, and have recently had some prescribed by my PA--Lorazapam use to work...especially to help me sleep. I would take just one a day. Recently, I had an episode that was really scary for me. My PA prescribed Citalopram and I had told her my chest felt heavy when I took it. She said just take half a pill. So, a few days ago, I did. I woke up at 3am and felt extremely disoriented and I passed out. Right on my stairs in my home. Once I came to...I managed to get in front of a fan, in front of a window, and felt better. My worry stems from I don't know what to do anymore about my anxiety. I am afraid to take an anti-depressant because of what happened recently, and the lorazapam I don't want to become addicted to, as I am aware it can make anxiety worse. I have a heightened awareness of my heart, and at night I wake up, and cannot fall back to sleep. I am a single Mom, and the sole provider of my children. I need to be strong for them and right now I feel the opposite of that.

Hi,
Do not go for self medication and never go with medication when some psychological symptoms are there.
Consult psychiatrist and get proper diagnosis.
You might be having Anxiety, Anxiety neurosis, Anxiety depression or Depression.
Proper diagnosis with proper medicines help more.
The medicines you take will mask the symptoms and may worsen the condition.
Ok and take care.

GET a medical checkup. Your doctor can check to make sure that your anxiety isn’t caused by a medical condition, such as a thyroid problem, hypoglycemia, or asthma. Since certain drugs and supplements can cause anxiety.
Anxiety medication is most effective when combined with behavioral therapy and anxiety self-help strategies. Medication may sometimes be used in the short-term to relieve severe anxiety symptoms so that other forms of therapy can be pursued.
Anxiety medications can be habit forming and cause unwanted side effects.
