Report Shows CBC To Be 1.7 Low To 9.3 High. And Lipid Panel HDL Was 70. Meaning?

Hi Dorian, I had a CBC done with my yearly physical and the mono % was high 11.1 and the ranges were 1.7 low to 9.3 high and the MONO # was at the high end of 0.6 levels low 0.1 high 0.6 What does that mean? Everything else looked great on that test. I also had a lipid panel ran and the HDL was 70 and it says 40-60 was normal.

Hello and welcome to HCM,

The complete hemogram report reveals an increase in number of monocytes in blood.
An increase in monocytes is seen in infections like malaria, leishmaniasis, ricketssial infections, chronic disease processes like tuberculosis, brucellosis, listerosis, rheumatoid arthritis, SLE and certain malignancies.

However, such mild increase is seen in infections or chronic disease process.
Malignancy is unlikely in such mild increase in monocytes.
The above mentioned infections and chronic disease processes should be investigated for.
HDL is good cholesterol. High levels are good for health. The HDL levels should be correlated with other parameters of lipid profile.
If all other parameters are normal, there is nothing to worry.

Thanks and take care
