Running Nose, Cough, Fever, Given Tylonel For 3 Yr Old. Anything Else To Do ?
My 3year old son has a running nose , and cough , and a fever of 101.5. I gave him tylonel about 30 min ago but ihe still hot. But he is sleeping. He in light weight clothes and a light weight sheet over him. This has been going on since Monday. We saw the doctor but said nothing was wrong. Is there anything I should do.
Continue giving him Tylenol in correct dosage every 6 hours.
You may also give him anti- histamines like Benadryl after discussion with your Doctor.
Give him plenty of fluids.
He will be fine in a couple of days.
How ever if fever persists, he is dull, intake of fluids is less, you see pus like discharge from nose, cough is too distressing- you must see your doctor again.
Hope my answer helps you.
Wish your son a speedy recovery.
Hi
Thanks for your query.
Symptoms mentioned by you are viral in nature,
I suggest you to monitor temperature every 6 hourly an give acetaminophen in case it is above 100F,
Also give antihistaminic like benadryl as per dosage.
Give plenty of fluids, lukewarm water will be soothing.
Give him simple bland diet.
He should take adequate rest.
In case symptoms persist get him re evaluated by pediatrician.
Wishing your child good health.
God bless.
Hi,
Thank you for your query,
Your child seems to have a upper respiratory tract infection could be due to a virus.
Continue the prescribed medication as advised by your doctor.
If the fever is continuous, give Tylenol every 6 th hourly in prescribed dose and do tepid sponging with lukewarm water if there is a high grade fever.
Give plenty of oral fluids, soft, easily digestible food to maintain hydration and nutrition.
If the fever continues beyond 48 hours or if you find any problem within this duration, consult your Pediatrician for reassessment and further management.
Hope I have answered your query.
