Scheduled For Cystolitholapaxy Under General Anesthesia. What Things Should Be Taken Into Consideration?
Cystolitholapaxy under general anesthesia: 1) What questions should I ask of my urologist about this procedure to make sure that the equipment is up to date, that the operation is necessary, and that it is the best choice? 2) Are there any practice guidelines available online that speak to this issue? 3) What hospital qualifications are relevant to this particular operation? 4) How do I find out if the specialized equipment to be used is up-to-date and well maintained? 5) How many such procedures should a urologist perform in a year to be reasonably proficient? 6) Where can I find out such information independent of the urologists office employee's?
Hello, First you must understand the procedure. Stone in the bladder may pass on its own or the stone can be removed by an instrument called cystoscopy, depending upon the size f the stone. Cystoscopic removal can be done by naked eye or A camera will be attached to the cystoscopy and through cystoscopy ultrasonic waves or laser will be delivered to break up the stones into tiny pieces. These small pieces can then be flushed from the bladder with fluids. The surgeon may place a stent into the patient’s urethra to protect the lining and allow the fragments to pass out of the body. Any Lithotripsy centre with a qualified urologist will have all the facility. This is not a major procedure. But you must keep in mind that complication may arise in any procedure by any surgeon in any hospital. Be optimistic you will be alright. Best wishes
