Hi, you seem to be having attico-antral disease and your problems are related to that. In this type of disease, there is involvement of bone in the disease process and therefore the need for surgery. The involved part of bone is removed during surgery and ear drum repair is done. You can travel 3 weeks post surgery, just keep on chewing a gum for some time especially during ascent or descent. Also avoid entry of water in ear and follow the instruction of your doctor. Regards
