Scratch On Ankle By A Stray Dog. Taken Tetanus. Is Rabies Injection Necessary?
DOG BITE / SCRATCH hi., a stray dog tried to bite my leg, failed to, caught hold of my shoe and when i tried to free myself its teeth caused a minor scratch on my ankle, was wearing socks. Seems to be a small scratch on my ankle, no sign of any blood.. The doc advised me a tetanus shot which i did take., is a rabies injection necessary? A bit worried as this is the first time this has happened..

You come under category II of contact in dog bite.
This means you need to have rabies vaccination. The dose and schedule depend upon the type of vaccination.
Its still more needed if your from a rabies endemic area.
Please have prophylaxis as soon as possible.
