Scratches, Bruises After Accident. Fractured Collar Bone. Major Wound On Knee. Swollen Knee, Discharging Clear Liquid. Infection?
My wife met with a two wheeler accident and has scratches and bruises on legs and hands. Also her collar bone got fractured. We saw a doctor imeediately and a brace was arranged for her calvicle bone fracture and the dressing was done for all the injuries. Except one on right knee all the other injuries look minor. The one the right knee is little deep however not a major wound. The regular dressing was done two days back(Feb 04, 2013). Some of the scratches left open and wiped with Merbromin. Suddenly last night both the legs look swollen however she is not feeling any pain the swelling is noticeable. Also watery fluid is coming from one open scratch. Are the wounds infected? Is it the Abcess? What are the steps to reduce swelling of legs?
Any traumatic bleeding injury requires tetanus shot and a course of antibiotics. The wound area also must be washed with antiseptic and kept clean. The fluid coming out can be a part of healing process by formation of granulation tissue. Please do not worry.
Hope this helps
