Scratching Tongue On Teeth, Painful, Itchy And Swollen. Why Do I Do It?

Hi. I'm a 19 year old, female. I have been biting my tongue for as long as I can remember. I think of it more as scratching my tongue on my teeth...but, I hate it. IT HURTS. My tongue always has sores on it. It is always sore and itchy and swollen. I know it is worse when my OCD or anxiety is acting up. But, how can I kick this habit?

Hi,

Thanks for asking the query,

I can understand your concern, please donot panic.
You should apply some antibiotic and analgesic cream like mucopain or dologel topically over the affected area.
Donot smoke or drink alcohol as it may worsen the condition.
Take lukewarm saline and antiseptic mouthwash gargles.
Avoid eating hot and spicy food stuffs.
Take multivitamins tablets.
Maintain a good oral hygiene, drink lots of water and keep yourself hydrated.

Hope this helps out..

Regards..
