Septoplasty Done, Have Fluid Collection In Ear Causing Discomfort, Fever, Light Headedness. How Can I Fix This?
I had a septoplasty last week and have been having a good recovery to date, however, I appear to have developed fluid in my ear which is causing a great deal of discomfort including fever and light headedness as well as earache. I am having difficulty hearing from the affected ear. Can I do anything to get rid of the fluid? I have been taking an antibiotic since my operation.
Since you have undergone septoplasty just one week back there is always a chance of getting middle ear infection which may be causing the block. Furthermore during the recovery phase of septoplasty surgery you may get ear block and nose block which should improve in some weeks.
Meanwhile you may undergo and audiometric evaluation to confirm the hearing loss and also to try to find the cause of loss. This will also help you in the follow up.
Further since you are already on anti biotics you do not need any more medications. You may however add an antihistamine tablet if not already taken
Try steam inhalation also
take care and get well soon
