Severe Iron Deficiency, Necessary To Find The Cause

Hello, my iron anemia was discovered three years ago. (I am now 44.) At that time my red blood cells (# was fine) had shrunk and turned pale. I suffered from IBS, migraines, exhaustion even with excessive hours of rest and sleep, physical weakness, irritability, lack of concentration, poor memory/recall, hair loss, bruised easily, pale, weight gain, high BP and edema (treated with water pills). One year after starting the water pills I because extremely sensitive to the heat and would experience heatstroke-like symptoms. I was assured it did not have anything to do with the water pills. I had a colonoscopy (fine), echogram (heartvalves?), and on request was tested for celiac (negative). After 3 years of iron supplements and two years of no menstrual cycles (IUD) the color of my blood cells are finally showing a little improvement. My doctor is not concerned with finding the cause. Is this something that I should insist?
