Severe Ear Pain After Yawning Or Hiccup. Any Immediate Cure?
Hello I ve had severe ear pain for about a month and I ve seen a ENT multiple times. He s given me Tylenol codeine and an antibiotic for it but its not getting better. Everytime I hiccup , yawn or swallow I get a sharp shooting pain. There is constant pain as well. It s almost unbearable. Any suggestions to get me through til my next ENT appointment next week?
cause of this symptoms
1)sore throat --Ear pain when swallowing is often caused due to sore throat. The Eustachian tube, which keeps fluid out of the middle ear, is connected to the throat. Swelling of this tube due to sore throat leads to a blockage, causing pressure in ear, which in turn leads to ear pain when swallowing.
2)TMJ dysfunction --Temporomandibular joint (TMJ) connects your lower jaw with temporal bone of skull and this is the primary joint responsible for movement of lower and upper jaws,Temporomandibular joint disorder is characterized by sharp pain in ear, especially while swallowing, chewing or yawning
3)Tooth abscess 4) pain from the wisdom tooth
you can do following things for relive-
1) Sleep on one side so that the affected ear is facing upwards
2)Chewing gum will help movement of the Eustachian tubes. This will further help loosen and relieve pressure in the ear and alleviate ear pain.
