Severe Headache After Taking Amoxicillin For Cold And Ear Infection. Should I Stop Taking Amoxicillin?
Was seen by a docotor for cold and an infection of the middle ear and external ear. Was then prescribed amoxicillin 500mg, 3x day for 7 days and Polymyxin-neomycin drops. The problem is that since taking the medication i have severe headache that progressively gets worse. I have only been able to take one amoxicillin a day now due to the severe headache, Can I stop taking amoxicillin? Replace it with another antibiotic?

No you can continue amoxicillin caps your head ache is not because of medications may be because of ear infection itself so also take tab aceclofenac 100 mg with those tablets you get relief with your headache. Kindly continue cap amox thrice a day to increase effective blood level of drug. Continu for 1 wk you get relif by10 days. Ear infection can spread to brainif not treated properly so take medications properly.

headache might be because of infection in ear. It is advised that you take analgesic along with it.
if you can correlate headache with amoxycillin then switch over to azithromycin 500mg once daily for 6 days. If headache still persists start an analgesic with it.

Headache is due to infective inflammation in the ear and spread to sinus cavity.
Continue amoxy for 7 days.
You have to take nsaid with decogestant along with amoxycilline.
It will subside within 24 hours.
Steam inhalation will be helpful.
Take proper local care of ear.
Avoid oily,spicy food.Also avoid cold drink,ice creams.
Keep in touch with your doctor.
