Severe Pain During Periods, Leg Cramps Adenomyosis?
hello doc gud afternoon, i am so glad after searching in google the topic on adenomyosis surgery and i saw this site...I have a questions to raise coz I am in confusion over my adenomyosis diagnosed by 2 OB gyne in our city. I have normal 4 days mestruation cycle but I feel too pain especially if i cant sit or rest during the day. I take alreaady pain reliever meds and it is working. I feel also sometimes leg cramps in the 1st or 2nd day but it will be away after resting or sitting longer in the chair...Is this really adenomyosis? Do I need to undergo already surgery?
Adenomyosis is a condition where in the normal tissue that grows within the uterus is found in the muscle layers of the uterus. This results in symptoms like severe pain in the pelvic region, especially during periods; bleeding between periods; pain during intercourse; extended and/or heavy periods; worsening symptoms with age; presence of blood clots in period; etc.
It does sound like you could have this condition, but adenomyosis is usually diagnosed with the help of an MRI, ultrasound scan of the uterus, physical examination, clinical presentation, etc.
If all of these tests have confirmed and supported the diagnosis of a bulky uterus, then a biopsy can also be taken to confirm the presence of endometrial tissue in the muscular layers of the uterus. This will confirm the diagnosis of adenomyosis.
Hope this helps.
Take care.
