hi brandon
thanks for asking your query.

pain in jaw has multiple reasons,it could be of dental origin.tmj problem, muscle spasm, teeth grinding, congested sinus.
Treatment of headache and jaw pain varies greatly according to the cause.
Painkillers and antibiotics are given if infection is suspected.
Prompt tooth extraction or a root canal may be necessary for tooth infections.
Eat soft foods and use a cool compress to help numb the worse of the pain.
Surgery is done only as a last resort for cases of TMJ or chronic sinusitis.
In cases of teeth grinding, you can wear a dental appliance to prevent further damage

hope this will help
thanks.

Hi,

Thanks for asking the query,

Pain in the jaw can be due to TMJ disorder, if you are having any habit of clenching or grinding the tooth, some infected tooth in the oral cavity can also lead to reffered pain in the jaw.

I would suggest you to get a checkup done by a Oral and Maxilllofacial Surgeon,
Take an OPG radiograph to look for any abnormality in the jaw.

If there is any infected tooth get it treated.
Take a soft diet, reduce stress if any.
Maintain a good oral hygiene.
Take tab combiflam 500mg for pain relief.

For treatment of TMJ disfunction inflammatory medication, heat therapy, rest in some cases bite splint therapy is given.

Hope this helps out.

Physical Therapist or Physiotherapist Baljeet Kaur's  Response
hi
thanks for the question.
pain in jaw and headaches can arise due to many reasons, some of which could be:
dental pain
pain and stiffness in temporomandibular joint(TMJ)
ear pain
locking of TMJ

So you need to see a doctor who could find out the exact cause.
And if the cause is stiffness and weakness of the TMJ then a physiotherapist can help you, by reducing your jaw pain (with the help of their electrotherapeutic therapy) and for the weak jaw your physiotherapist can tell you specific exercises to regain strength.

i hope this answers your query.

wish you good health
