Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement 's  Response
Hi, thanks for writing to HCM.

Sudden onset of severe knee pain in an elderly patient without any history of injury always warrants investigations. There is no role for self care measures.

A detailed clinical examination and appropriate investigations are necessary to establish the cause of pain.

I suggest you to consult an orthopedic surgeon for evaluation and management.

Hope this information is helpful. Good day
