Severe Pain Radiating Down The Jaw, Neck, Back Of Tongue. No Relief From Paracetamol And Gargling With Salt Water. Ulcer?
Hello Charles,
I have a very sore jaw/tonsil/back of tongue. I think I have an ulcer or something where the tonsil housing is (at the front). I've taken Paracetemol for pain relief but it's not doing much. I've gargled with salt water and that's not helping either. The pain is radiating down my jaw and neck and it's making life very difficult to the point where I can't sit at work and will need to go home.
Hello, Thanks for writing to us. The infection and pain in throat, tongue ,jaw and tonsil may be due to-Tonsillitis/throat infection/pericoronitis due to impacted wisdom tooth. I would suggest you to visit an ENT specialist and get a thorough evaluation done. IF symptoms persists, visit a dentist and check whether any decayed or impacted teeth remaining in your mouth. Grossly decayed teeth has to be extracted. Impacted teeth if cannot be saved, get it extracted. Take complete course of antibiotics-analgesics. Gargle frequently with warm saline or betadine. Take care.
