Severe Ripping, Burning Sensation From Upper Back To Spine, Pains On Twisting. What Could Be Causing This?
I am an active 28 year old male. I currently am experiencing a severe ripping and burning sensation in my upper back to the right of my spine around the area where my shoulder blade finishes. It only hurts whilst I twist or turn. To me it feels as though I may have a tear of the muscle but I have been taking it easy for two weeks and have avoided the gym and it appears to becoming more painful
Thanks for writing in.
Severe ripping pain in upper back most characteristically reminds us of severe condition - emergency condition called aortic dissection.
But in your case as it is been going on over 2 weeks and symptoms appear on movement; it indicates mainly of musculoskeletal problem.
1] Spinal disc herniation can cause similar symptoms.
2] Sprain due to heavy exercise.
3] Muscular injury like small tears in fibres also in heavy exercise.
I would recommend you to get chest X-ray done as soon as possible to come to any conclusion. I hope I have answered your query. In case of any doubt, revert back please.
Best regards,
Dr. Neelam.
