Severe Weakness, Pain In The Limbs After Clot Development In The Right Jugular Vein Post Brain Operation. Will Eliquis Help?

I began taking Eliquis on 3/3/14 for a clot in my right jugular vein. The clot was apparently caused because I had a brain operation on 1/15/14 for trigeminal neuralgia, a cranioectomy behind my right ear and then an MVD of the trigeminal nerve. The operation worked great and I felt fine from it almost immediately. The clot is another thing! Spent more than a week of intense pain and discomfort before they scanned my neck and found that it was from a clot and not an infected thyroid. I am still weaning off carbamazepine. I have begun feeling very weak and have had pains running down my arms and legs, and some difficulty in taking my daily walk. My doc said to just overcome it and keep walking. He estimates that I will be able to stop taking Eliquis within 3 months. My other meds are Synthroid, Vitamin D, carbamazepine, losartan and amlodipine (latter as necessary). The weakness is severe and I don t like it. What is your opinion as to what I should do?

AHi thanks for your query.your weakness in your limbs could be of multiple insignificant factors.since you are in your post operative period, this weakness can a part of the catabolic state.eqilis drug is given to prevent clot formation and its subsequent dissemination in the jugular veins.there is no such relation to its weakness in lower limbs.it will be tapered in 3months.its usuage in the post op period is extremely vital.carbamazepine is vital for TRIGEMINAL NEURALGIA.SINCE YOU RECEIVED THE PERFECT TREATMENT FOR TG,ie TGNDC THERE WILL NO NO COMPLICATIONS,arising out of it.remaining tablets need to continued as usual.the weakness will be improving on its own and does not need specific treatment.thank you
