Sexually Exposed To HIV Positive Man. DNR PCR Test Negative. Should I Be Relaxed Now?
My boyfriend was sexually exposed with a HIV positive man on 12 th july and on 22nd july he did DNA PCR Test and it came negative. Can I be little bit relaxed??? He was anally sexually exposed. He went to Government hospital here and from there they told he can be fully relaxed. I am in big tension. I will die if something happen to him. How much doctor told here that DNA PCR is very accurate test and it can give result in 10 days. Please help me,
DNA PCR is used for early detection of HIV status. This test is highly sensitive and gives accurate result after 28 days of exposure.
Anal sex with HIV positive man has higher chance of HIV infection. As he did the test too early i.e. after 10 days of anal sex, he needs to repeat the test again after 4 weeks for confirmation.
Hope, it helps for your information. Good luck.
