Shaky Vision, Had Tonsilitis And Fever. Suggestions?
My 6 year old son is saying he has shaky vision now and again. He plays on his ipad a lot and watches tv a lot. It goes as quick as it comes. He first ever complained with it after he was ill with tonsillitis and had a fever so I just put it down to that but he still gets it now ( few weeks later ) . I have noticed its only usually when he's reading, watching tv or playing computer games or when he's tired and trying to concentrate on something e.g tv. He never complains of this when he is playing or outside. I have not had his eyes tested yet.
The description of shaky vision for a child could mean blurred vision, double vision or just about any visual problems that reduces clarity. An eye check up which includes not only a vision check but the evaluation of the eye muscles done by an ophthalmologist is important in his case. For a 6 year old it is often difficult to say if he needs glasses right away so in most cases, an eye drop is instilled in the eyes for a preliminary number and it is confirmed once more a few days later after the effect wears off. The fact that it manifests during sickness or eye strain means he does have a refractive error that he masks with the use of the eye muscles and hence manifests during tiredness of these muscles. To know for sure schedule an eye check up for him as early as possible.
