Sharp Pain Near Arm Pit, Ribs Hurting. Possible Reason?

My husband has a sharp pain about 4 inches down from his arm pit and about 4 inches back from his side (toward his back) He was complaining the top of his ribs hurt and he was in a lot of pain. He won't let me take him to a doctor and he won't let me call an ambulance. It seems to come and go. He did a lot of strenuous work today, he is a home remodeler. He is 53, over weight and hasn't been to a doctor in probably 40 years. He is stubborn, he won't let me take him in.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi, it might be the gastric pain, or a muscle pain. There is also a possibility of it be cervical spondylosis or the pain of the lungs, but as there is no cough it may not be the reason.
I to my patient with such symptoms prescribe omeprazole, domperidone, and acyclophenic sodium, and cifixime. Thank you.
