Sharp Pain While Kneeling, Indentation On Bottom Of Patella, Had A Fall Skateboarding. Suggestions?
Hi, I fell pretty hard on my knee six weeks ago while skateboarding. Now there's a small indentation at the bottom of my patella that I don't think was there before the fall. When I kneel on my knee I get a very sharp pain, and then the pain subsides fast when I get off of my knee. Putting pressure on the indentation with my fingers hurts too. I haven't lost range of motion and it doesn't hurt to run. My first thought was a chip in my patella...Any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks.

General & Family Physician, Dr. Lohit K's Response
Hi Thanks for using HCM.
As noted by you, if you feel indentation of patella then get examined by the orthopedician with a xray. With this type of injury to patella your range of motion, gait will be normal but the broken piece or any ligament or tendon coming in contact with the broken or indented area will be damaged. That will pain and you may loose certain range of motion later on. So get examined by orthopedician.
Hope I answered your question. Wish you good health. Take care.
